The People’s Transition Project
The People’s Transition proposes a participative decision-making mode which views climate action as an enabler of local development, gives people and communities ownership of the transition to zero carbon societies and enhances public support for a Just Transition by tackling inequality and raising standards of living through the delivery of climate solutions.
Mountbellew
The People’s Transition in Mountbellew, County Galway (31st August 2023)
The Mountbellew People’s Transition began in November 2022, with the intention to learn from the community’s needs and abilities as a means to design climate solutions for the benefit of the community and address its development priorities. The report proposes a focus on community-owned accommodation and a small-scale hydroelectric co-operative.
Enniscorthy
The People’s Transition in Enniscorthy, County (29th June 2023)
The Enniscorthy People’s Transition project began in September 2022, with the intention to learn from the community’s needs and abilities as a means to design climate solutions for the benefit of the community and address its development priorities. The report proposes a focus on shared mobility and community-owned solar energy.
Border Transition
Border Transition Lough MacNean (November 2022)
The Border Transition project began in January 2022, with the intention of understanding how people within the community could be included by assessing who was at greatest risk of being excluded. The report proposes solutions related to community led renewable energy and anaerobic digestion.
Phibsborough
The People’s Transition Phibsborough, County Dublin (11th January 2022)
The Phibsborough People’s Transition began in March 2021, with the intention to learn from the community’s needs and abilities as a means to design climate solutions for the benefit of the community and address its development priorities. As can be expected, not all needs identified could be addressed through community-led action, so it was necessary to address the pertinent issues at hand. However, the report focuses on

The Ardara People’s Transition began in March 2021, it intended to learn from the community’s needs and abilities as a means to design climate solutions for the benefit of the community and address its development priorities. The report proposes a cooperative biochar facility and a large-scale indigenous seaweed farm.
